Profile.

Hamza Aid is a software engineer and DevOps specialist with more than fifteen years of experience building platforms, leading teams and making cloud infrastructure easier to use well. On The Innovation Guy, Hamza writes about technology: how it is built, governed and adopted, and what it changes for the people who depend on it.

Based in Barcelona, Hamza works on Cloud Governance at Adevinta, driving cloud and infrastructure automation across a portfolio of more than 25 marketplaces in over 10 countries. That work includes an internal Cloud Management Platform for self-service provisioning of AWS, Google Cloud, Datadog, PagerDuty, Sumo Logic and Grafana Cloud accounts, together with tools for access governance with full audit trails, DNS, domain and certificate automation, IP address management, FinOps cost visibility with anomaly detection, and quarterly budget planning.

Before that, as part of Adevinta’s C&T team, Hamza led the architecture and end-to-end migration of the platforms behind Tayara.tn in Tunisia and Corotos.com.do in the Dominican Republic, both leading classifieds sites in their countries: a move from a legacy C-based monolith to a multi-tenant, cloud-native services architecture able to serve both countries at once, alongside support for their web, iOS and Android apps.

The career began in Morocco. Hamza founded and operated Ma Hosting, a web hosting company built, run and sold within its first year, then spent five years as a software engineer at the agency Floupie, delivering high-scale platforms, cloud migrations, process automation and architecture consulting for private groups and public-sector clients. At Avito.ma, Morocco’s leading classifieds platform and part of the Schibsted group, Hamza worked across engineering teams for nearly four years: resolving critical reliability issues, building APIs and microservices, developing a machine-learning model to detect duplicate ads, indexing the production database into Elasticsearch, and leading the Real Estate vertical team.

Hamza holds a master’s degree in management of information systems from the Faculté des sciences et techniques de Settat and works in Arabic, French, English and Spanish. Writing here focuses on artificial intelligence, software, learning and the practical questions technology raises for organisations and the people they serve.

Views expressed on The Innovation Guy are Hamza’s own and do not represent Adevinta or any other employer.

On The Innovation Guy

Writing by Hamza.

Surreal illustration of a spiral stone staircase rising from an open stone book, with small doorways and plants on its steps. A sculpted hand places a new step while a yellow thread spirals upward around the tower.

Learning how to learn, again.

Curiosity, critical thinking and the habits that travel between disciplines. Why lifelong learning is less about knowing everything and more about asking well.

Surreal illustration of a long stone table on sand: a sculpted marble hand rests at one end, a dark faceted geometric sphere sits at the other, and a yellow line between them curves into the shape of a question mark above open books.

The AI question we’re not asking.

Beyond what a tool can do: who gets to shape how artificial intelligence is used, who can challenge it, and whose experience counts when deciding whether it works?
